I'm a new person to graphite drawing and I bought some pencil sets that have a Highlight Pen that says chatum 0.8mm.... when I first removed the cap...a little white ink came out. But that's all??? I have no idea if they come loaded or if I have to fill them myself?? It might be a lame question but..... it is what it is.... anybody???

I don't know why but I don't like using disposable pens. They only hold 2ml of ink at best and they're constantly running out so you have to buy loads. I only use black and white pen for art. For colour, I use acrylic paint (or ink) but I'll apply it with a fine brush, not a pen. For black I use black acrylic ink in a dipping pen or permanent (lightfast) black in a fountain pen or else I use a brushpen loaded with Indian ink. For white, I use a dipping pen. I've tried paint markers but those are only good with a broad tip, otherwise they gunk up.

It's overpriced for sure, but I think that's because it doesn't have much competition.

I just found your channel today and I've watched a few of your videos. I love the information that you're giving thank you. I have a strong desire to get the M Graham paints because I love honey watercolors and living in Phoenix Arizona they respond well here. I have purchased some handmade honey watercolors and I have loved them so much. I work in realistic and photorealistic animals and watercolor make beautiful backgrounds and I am dying to use them in a full piece when I get enough colors. Being disabled and very low income makes it complicated but I have not given up hope.

I was really lucky to find 5 or 6 winsor newton series 7 brushes secondhand like new for €20,- total. And also found two bigger Rembrandt series 100 brushes in a secondhand set that I bought just for the paint so that was a good surprise. I might like the rembrandt 100 even more, exceptionally good quality. But I wouldn't buy natural hair if I were to pick out brushes new myself so I'm looking into what synthetic options are good. Might try out the Princeton heritage or Da vinci colineo if I ever need to replace the natural hair ones.

had a unipen for 2 years, used it for everything brilliant pen, had a 003 Micron for 2 weeks and it's dry, very disappointed in them

Arches ( pronounced Arsh) also comes in a roll 44” x 10 yd for 140 lb…much more cost effective

I sometimes use Arches CP and Saunders Waterford High White CP, but my favorite is the Hahnemuhle Expression CP, I think the colors flow and blend best on that paper. And as a bonus it's just half the cost of the Arches paper.

I wish I understood what I'm doing wrong my galaxies look like a small child ate every tube of paint and puked it all up onto a piece of watercolor paper. Not one has turned out to look like a galaxie aahh u make it look so easy

I cannot stand my jelly gouache. It feels like children's paint and I cannot get a good consistency. Im actually drying mine out on purpose to see if they work better for me that way. Im not new to gouache, yet I struggle with Himi.

A couple of other clues. Work out keeping a consistent scale when screw loosens. 2. Work out some consistent measuring points based on horizontal and vertical lines angles at corners of square must be 90 degrees. Example draws square around the photo with dots in each corner. 3. Draw diagonal lines from opposite corners. 4 center of square is where diagonals cross. You can now find centres of all outside lines which allows center lines to measure from using a t square.. drawing a larger or smaller square inside or outside the original square that also fits in your drawing paper sets up the scale to take measurements from. This is basic geometry and should have illustrations. There are some examples of this set up on some utubes using proportional dividers that show this (not all a few research and understand before doing. It is simple but shortcuts like yours miss important steps for accuracy of angles. These same basics can apply to the grid system copy technique.
